His writing just keeps getting better (“the blue teeth of the Rockies”—gawdDAMMIT that’s good). Great character building, as per yoosh. The Kingverse! That’s about it, though. The first half was definitely better, although I kept having to remind myself that it was supposed to be sort of noir-ish so it didn’t matter that the plot was completely asinine. Meh.
