Okay this is a lovely book. I can definitely see why some people might dismiss it as too sentimental, but honestly I kind of love that about it?? I would definitely return to this book when I need to feel good and happy. I had kind of weird deja vu as I was reading it, as if I had read it before, but I definitely have not. Steinbeck's writing is so lovely, even when the plotting is not quite the master class of his earlier works.
