This story is a trip. It is 1970, and we are introduced to Caroline Sears who finds herself both widowed and pregnant. Upon learning that her unborn baby girl has a heart defect Carly is devastated yet again. She lost her husband to the Vietnam war, now she has to contend with possibly losing her baby too.

Thankfully Carly has a support system with her sister Patti and her husband Hunter. Having met Hunter only a couple years prior, this physicist is smart, mysterious and thinks there is a way to help Carly’s baby girl. Turns out Carly thinks Hunter has lost his mind or is joking with her… but she is willing to almost do anything for her baby, if it means the possibility of saving her unborn child.

And that’s where I’ll leave it at that. I thought this story was fantastic, with all the mind-bending possibilities, all of the what ifs, and believing it IS possible. Suspending reality to enjoy this heartfelt drama is the way to go. I enjoyed all the layers and conflicting emotions. Paid off in the end.
