The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories by R.A. Salvatore

4.0

I got The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories as a free audiobook on Audible. It gathers twelve compelling stories written by R.A. Salvatore, originally published in the Dragon magazine. It is narrated by a bunch of awesome people and is a great way to introduce new readers to the Forgotten Realms and Drizzt Do'Urden. The First Notch narrated by Felicia Day gets you just in the mood of the setting and her voice as the goblins is fun and charming. Dan Harmon’s voice as Drizzt in Dark Mirror is just perfect. Michael Wheaton does a fantastic job narrating and impersonating all the characters in If They Ever Happened Upon My Lair. Bones and Stones, narrated by Al Yankovic is surprisingly critical. There are a few things I didn’t like from this collection, though, I found unpleasing that the voice of the female character from The Downery narrated by Melissa Rauch is identical to her character from The Big Bang Theory. Also, you can hear the discomfort in Ice-T from reading Comrades At Odds and David Duchovny in To Legend He Goes appears to be very bored (or maybe he just speaks that way). But all in all, the audiobook of The Legend of Drizzt is a great book; not only all the stories are attractive and well written, they really are brought to life by the great work of the narrators.
