Under the Skin: The Hidden Toll of Racism on American Lives and on the Health of Our Nation, by Linda Villarosa

challenging dark emotional informative inspiring medium-paced

4.5

This is a powerful book- one of those that I can feel permanently altering my worldview as I read. The journalistic approach really works- the author gives us gripping case studies and supports them with no shortage of data. Without being too heavy-handed about it, she also integrates her own personal experiences in healthcare, in her career, and even just in her personal life and development.

I've written down a lot of the things I've learned reading this book so I don't forget them. It feels like an  important piece of work, and I'll be keeping tabs on the these topics in the news going forward.
