The Inmate by Freida McFadden

4.5

Brooke has gotta be the dumbest, most naive Freida FMC ever. I really enjoyed reading this book, but also so frustrated how stupid Brooke sounds the entire time. For someone who's had a terrible, terrible trauma, she trusts people so easy. But I'm not gonna lie, Shane got to me. I knew the moment that he was labeled "manipulative" that he was bad but also like Brooke, I wanted to trust him! But also, Brooke was in my head, and I'm reading her pov so who is it really??? That woman has got no gut feeling or whatever. It was so dumb and funny at the same time. The moment he got Shane released, and she realized she got it wrong AGAIN was so fucked up. If I were Tim, I would never take her back! The woman has a habit of sending her lovers to prison lmao. Also, I love the plot twists! That one second where she thought Shane and Tim were working together, I was like... FUCK. But then, that was wrong! I never expected that part with Shane's mother, it was kinda random but okay???? Also, the twist about the son at the end, and when it finally clicked why he was so sus of Shane??? Damn. He really is his father's son. 😬  AND also I never liked Tim (still).

All the characters here are like super dumb, but this, I gotta say is one of my fave Freida book so far. This was so entertaining.
