Shadow Prey by John Sandford

3.0

As much as I’m a huge fan of this series, this is the weakest link. The story barrels along, there’s a tremendous amount of incident and the antagonists are wily and cunning…
… it’s just dull. For whatever reason, it just doesn’t work for me the way that Mr Sandford’s other books nearly all do. It’s a busy story and we get a lot of characters from the first novel making an appearance and doing what they do. Davenport’s personal life is probably as complicated as it will ever get, but even this doesn’t make it interesting enough. It’s well-written and everything, it just doesn’t push my buttons like almost the entirety of the rest of the series does.
