Cleaning and Organizing Box Set: 33 Awesome Tricks on How to Organize Your House in 2 Weeks and Declutter Your Life in One Week plus 55 Simple Methods ... organizing diy, clutter free revolution) by Mary Green
3.0
Just to get the down side out of the way, this book is extremely sparse. If you're an experienced homemaker, there's really nothing here for you. Pick up Home Comforts: The Art and Science of Keeping House-- the end-all, be-all of homemaking guides instead. That said, for someone looking for a basic, beginner's guide to cleaning house, I think this would do very well. It's got enough information to get you started without being overwhelming. Also, I loved the author's "voice." She's not a professional writer, so there are plenty of editing problems, but there are also some eye-catching uses of local grammar or phrasing, which I found really enjoyable. Whereas some of the professionally published homemaking guides can sound like Martha Stewart is lecturing you, this one reads like the lady down the street is just walking you through it. I'm around young adults every day and a surprising number of them have absolutely no idea how to do the most basic tasks of home care. I'd give them this book over Home Comforts because it wouldn't intimidate them and would give them enough skills to get them started.
