The Point of It All by Christina C. Jones

4.0

Just like the synopsis states, The Point of It All grief, illness, and death that could be triggering for some readers.

Sugar Valley series has been the best series I’ve read by Christina C. Jones so far.  She writes about very tough topics in a way that allows you to feel the emotion of the characters but not be weighed down heavily with emotion.

Honey Branch Winery and it’s rich history, brings Eva and Luke together.  While Eva is trying to restore the beauty of the winery she has recently purchased, Luke is happy to assist.  Afterall, his grandmother was the original owner of Honey Branch.  The history of the winery and Luke’s battle with his family relationships, was compelling and I could read more about it.  As they worked together at the winery, their relationship grows.  A future looks great for Luke and Eva, until Eva reveals she is battling a disease she refuses to seek treatment for. While I understood why Eva made her decision, I also wanted her to change it.  One of the biggest battles of this story, was Eva trying to convince her loved ones that her decision was the right one.  But could you sit and watch someone you love die, when there is a chance they can overcome? That question made me understand the position of Eva’s friends and family.

Luke was the opposite of Ben in personality but it was easy to see why they were best friends. Luke’s patience and acceptance of Eva were admirable.  He fell in love with her despite the odds and he loved her beautifully.  Even Eva and Leon’s relationship was cute.  I applauded her for making the best decision she felt she needed to make for herself unapologetically.

I would definitely recommend this series.
