The prose itself was moving and I could understand what was going on at any given point in time. What really stopped me from giving it that last star is that the catharsis is ripped away from you at about 75%. I also had no patience for giving the husband a shred of humanity because what he did was absolutely evil. I was fine when it was him trying to justify his god complex to himself but I couldnt listen to other characters attempt to give him humanity. He doesnt deserve it for the exact reason that was the ending of the book. She will never understand fully what happened to her. It's sad.
