I loved this book so much! The characters feel so real and I really grew to feel for them.
In 1776, Frannie is an orphaned girl living on an island with her abusive stepfather, and one day a ship wrecks on the shore of the island. The body of a young women washes up and Frannie sees a chance at freedom; she quickly takes Emmeline Coates' identity, not knowing where that choice will soon lead her. On the ship to the mainland, she falls for young Patriot Asa Lane, but they are separated far too soon when he is forced to join the Royal Navy. For three years Frannie lives as Miss Coates, with a life full of lavish parties and lies. Soon her old life starts to haunt her, and Frannie discovers spying, a way to help the rebel cause. Through a courtship with a British soldier, the return of Asa, and spying for General Washington, the true Frannie starts to emerge. But lies only last so long...
Frannie is so brave, intelligent, and I fell in love with her character. I absolutely recommend this book. You don't have to enjoy historical fiction to enjoy Rebel Spy.
