Romancing the Kicker by Catherine Lane

4.0

*Note: I was provided a copy of this book by Ylva Publishing

Romancing the Kicker follows Parker, a young woman who was just signed onto the Las Vegas High Rollers football team, and Carly, a young athletic trainer who was just hired onto the team. With Parker and Carly big being new female hires they are introduced and are quickly attracted to one another. Throughout the novel we see the two grow closer and form a strong bond. The novel also follows Parker as she struggles with becoming the first female in the NFL and Carly as she deals with her family and money issues.

This book had a lot of good things in it. It deals with feminism head on as well as family struggles and issues with money. It was nice how fleshed out these the plot and characters were. It was easy to relate to both of them even though their lives are drastically different. I was a bit worried about the football and the sports aspect of this book because I know nothing about sports, but it ended up being very easy and enjoyable to read. I do wish the relationship between the two main characters was not so dragged out. I feel that things were moving really slow in terms of what I had expected going into this novel and then came together fairly quickly at the end. But, this was overall a very enjoyable read.
