The Russian Revolution: A New History by Sean McMeekin
4.0
A very accessible and entertaining history of the two 1917 revolutions in Petrograd, the preconditions which set the stage, the contentious politics of the 8-month struggle in between, and the Bolshevik’s challenging years of consolidation after. Especially worth reading by military professionals for the considerable time the author spends discussing the incredible fractioning of the Russian military in relation to he socialist movement.
