Barkskins by Annie Proulx

5.0

This beautiful, personal, incredibly well-researched novel combines history, ecology, culture and impeccable literary style to explain how North America as we know it came to be. One of the more moving works I've encountered lately, and educational as well. Excuse the pun, but Barkskins gets at the root of the current predicament humans and nature are experiencing.
