Piglettes, by Clémentine Beauvais

Was a bit dazed after my history exam and so lay in my bed and reread this book all afternoon. This was my favourite book about five years ago as it never failed to make me giggle. It still makes me giggle now! Despite being aimed at a slightly younger age group. I think this book is part of the best kind of bildungsroman books! It is a wonderful, wonderful story that is witty, clever, funny, and above all, teaches girls to stay (genuinely) true to themselves, which is such a cliche but it's so true of this book. If I had to recommend a book to early teens, I'd fiercely advocate this book. Brilliant story, brilliant writing and brilliant message.

The wit of the main character is, perhaps a little irritating sometimes, but it is, majority of the time, clever and genuinely very funny. It's a really refreshing book in terms of the young adult, coming of age genre. I think it's perfect.

I'm glad I chose this book to recover post-exam for a bit of relief and can't wait to read lots more after a levels :)
