Book Review - An Emperor’s Gamble

This series continues to get better and better. Book 3, An Emperor’s Gamble is another step up from the previous book.

Obviously, 3 books into a 4 book series is difficult to review with without providing spoilers but I will try my best.

What I will say is this took a dark turn. This was definitely the darkest book in the series so far.

This book delved so much deeper in the Legend that is Tal. We get to understand more of the man behind the legend.

The world building in this instalment is expanded on beautifully, adding a greater richness to the story.

We’re introduced to more people from this world, which further enhances the depth to this world.

This book is heavy on the fantasy travelling troupe more than we had in the previous books, but do not this is put you off, this is key to the story and world building.

One of my gripes from book two was the way Garin acted, I asked for a redemption arc. I feel like this was achieved in this book.

Garin went through some series growth in this book and I was so glad for it. I’m excited to see where the author takes him in book 4.

I am really enjoying my time in this world and looking forward to jumping straight into book 4.
