A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen

3.0

One of the things I did enjoy about this play is that it does look at how women of the 19th century were trapped within their marriages and how they couldn’t then be their own person. Some of what is discussed in the play is something that we as viewers are familiar with and that means we can be dropped in to the middle of it without needing too much context for it.

One of the things that didn’t seem to flow so well for me, was that Nora says that she and her husband have never had a serious conversation during the 8 years of their marriage, but they have. And they were both in the previous two acts of the play.

All in all, that is something that can be forgiven because it is a good play. And one that would be better when seen performed, I think.
