Midnight Rising by Lara Adrian

3.0

3.5 stars. A few things majorly ruined the feel of the book to me, and they all happened on the last 70 or so pages. The stuff with the son of Dragos was just... Cheesy. There was a lord Voldemort/Tom riddle moment where the bad guy used an algorithm to make his street names and shit, one of which didn't even make sense as to why you'd figure it out. And the final 'fight scene' between the son of Dragos and Rio... Was just... Not satisfying at all. They're constantly sitting back with their females instead of chasing down some evil Psychopath to stop them! Like, jump in the damn water and hope you end up in the same place, she's a big girl and if not she can wait in the car he won't be back! Just baffles me the shit they let slide!

What I LOVED however, is that this is basically a beauty and the beast retelling. He's scarred and thinks he's hideous. His on the verge of wanting to die, and she stops him. She's a little annoying with the questions but it's understandable as a reporter, her gift is to see the dead which I didn't like because they were always super cheesy, and I'm so sad over her mother it's ridiculous. But all up it was a good read. Not great, but satisfying enough to continue.
