Love at First Sight: A Cupid, Texas Novel by Lori Wilde

4.0

Lori Wilde is a newer author find for me but I love a good contemporary romance and always love reading a good cowboy story. Ms. Wilde takes us down to Cupid, Texas, a small town built on the romance of Cupid. Natalie hasn’t had an easy life but has overcome a lot by building on her extremely regimented life taking care of her B&B, her sister, and the town itself. At 29 she’s starting to realize all that she’s missed but is unsure how she can make any changes. Until one morning she spots Dade fixing his motorcycle. It’s love at first sight for Natalie but can she really trust those feelings? Dade has rolled in to town in search of his ex-Navy SEAL best friend, Red, who has dropped off the map. His last known location was Cupid and Dade wants to tear up the town searching for him. But since he’s unclear who to trust he initially embarks on his search alone. I’ll admit, the story did start out a little slow for me. I am not a big fan of the love at first sight trope but both Natalie and Dade and mysterious backgrounds that I wanted to discover so I kept reading. From there I was pulled in to the story and the mystery of Red and the emotional pull that Natalie and Dade shared. There was a quirk to Natalie that I just loved

that you don’t see in a lot of contemporary romances. By the end I was enjoying Cupid, Texas so much I went out and purchased the second book in the series. Fun read!
