Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree

5.0

This book is as cozy as people say it is, and more.

I didn't think a book would ever capture the feeling of when I play Skyrim and ignore the main quest, to instead marry my fave girl (Ysolda, of course), build a house, and use the farm to sell cabbages.

As a fantasy nerd, this book is everything I would ever want out of a low-stakes, romance-esque story. The varied characters, engaging lore, world-building, everything just came together perfectly. With a little action that only, in my mind, added to the coziness (can't have the dark without the light), this is one of my favourite things I've read this year. I also LOVED Baldree's writing style!

I also have to admit I spent the last 5% of the book a little watery-eyed, which has only happened with maybe one other book this year. An easy five stars. I can't wait to read the sequel(/prequel).
