Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls

3.0

I think young country boys would love this book. It is sort of like Grandpa telling you the same stories over and over. A huge chunk of hunting could have been cut out without hurting the story. I was really surprised at how much crying the kid does and the overlaying religious theme was a bit much for me. If you didn't know what a 'coon' was, I think you would picture some nasty dangerous creature not a cute raccoon. I don't think there was even much of a description like there was for everything else. Emotionally I didn't really get there. Billy is an annoying character. I think I would like the movie more.
