"Breaking Free" by Carmen Black is a dark RH between Makhail, Carder, Axel, and Julissa. Julissa was sold as a child and abused and pimped out until the age of 30. Makhail is a cop who aims to bring justice and protect his community, Carder is a computer genius who has had a crush on Julissa ever since high school, and Axel is the youngest who just like Julissa was a victim of trafficking. Julissa seeks revenge on those responsible and she meets her men who help protect her and fight by her side.

After reading a light-hearted series like Blacks' "Life in the Brohouse" series, I was intrigued by "Breaking Free" because it's the complete opposite. It's dark and twisted and discusses many serious issues. This book is filled with a lot of action and some spice. There is a HEA and I’m not sure if the second book will continue to follow these characters, however, I’m looking forward to reading “Fractured Chances”.
