Dang this book is such a hidden gem. Like wow. I feel like I need to go meditate or something. But yeah this was wild. The only criticism I have is that I wish it was longer! The world is so interesting and I could read for so long about Soren’s struggles and feelings. But even though this book left me feeling hollow, I like that it did. Because that feeling of hopelessness is exactly how the reader is supposed to feel.
I also like that it didn’t end with Soren making it out. I think the scope of how long he has been there could never be captured in a book, so ending with him making it out would never be truly understandable. I think a longer book with the same ending would have just enhanced the feelings of despair that the reader gets .
