I've read the Six of Crows duology before starting this series so I keep making comparisons. I loved SoC so much and found all the characters in it brilliant.
I found this book slow and it took me a while to get into the world. I wanted to see more action. I get that it's a start of a series and it needs world building but I needed more.
I like Alina's character so far but I'm not totally sold on her. The Darkling has a great villain potential so I'm really intrigued. Hoping to see more of him in the next book. I don't like Mal and I don't see that changing any time soon. He just gets on my nerves and I don't get why Alina likes him so much.
