Ever since I picked up Volume Three of Flight on a whim, I have been in love with this series. The theme of escape is a constant thread between the short stories in each volume.

What I love most about Flight is the combination of cute, serious, wacky, surreal, visual, and verbal styles of the different contributors.

At a convention, I overheard someone talking about how there are no good North American graphic novelists. Before I could interrupt and extole the virtues of this anthology, they had moved on, but for anyone looking for amazing North American work, I suggest the Flight anthology (especially Volume 5) as a springboard.
