STAGS: Nine students. Three blood sports. One deadly weekend. by M.A. Bennett

Overall, I think S.T.A.G.S was attempting to be a thought out and well planned story, but there were some weak, predictable patches and just... flopped.

One was that there were movie references of practically every page (I am not over exaggerating when I say that. It. Was. Literally. Every. Page.), and they got rather over the top. I am all for a character expressing their love for a particular movie franchise, or simply loving movies in general, but there comes a point where the author has put just one too many in the story.

Another weak point was the cliche relationships between Greer and Henry; and Greer and Shafeen. It may be just me, as I really hate cliches in a book, so when there is only a subtle one, it sticks out to me for the rest of the book. The writing itself also got quite weak in points, but there were some ok one liners. I thought the ending was passable, but it didn't bump it up any stars. I felt the ending fit in well with the story and it was completely plausible within the world.

Overall, this book was pretty good for a first novel, but objectively, it was just bad.
