I love an enemies to lovers, (somewhat) slow burn.
I really enjoyed the characters for the same reason I read so much Sherlock smut. You have the injured soldier with a heart of gold, who's just trying to figure himself out. A foil for the dark and handsome eccentric man whose sharp wit and clever tongue hide a more nuanced personality.

Cotent warning:
It got a little violent. After reading the first book, I was expecting another country manor house murder mystery... this was not that.
There is killing very much "on screen" if you will.
I had no problem with this. Found it very fitting, and in character, but I know could be a trigger for some.
