My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh

5.0

i was hesitant to give this 5 stars at first but i cant stop thinking ab this book n the lesson it presented us ab dealing w our issues/problems.

i found it interesting that throughout the whole book, we went through the life of a woman who had everything u could imagine but was still somehow unhappy w her life. what's even MORE interesting is that we learn anything n everything ab her relationships w other ppl, their stories, but we never find out our character's name. it's like she's telling an anonymous story which i absolutely love.

i honestly have never read anything like this before, but i always remained interested when i picked it up. i wasnt prepared for it to be so genuine n real but that's what made me love it - such a hate-able character intrigued me more than the cliche protagonist.

my first literary fiction novel did not disappoint. this book will prob always stick w me!!
