Seeker by Kim Chance

I’ve been a fan of Kim since just before Keeper and I couldn’t wait for Seeker to come out. It felt like I’ve been waiting forever and I felt so lucky to have been given an ACR! But now that I’ve read it I don’t even know what to say. It was amazing. Kim is an amazing writer and she’s only gotten better since Keeper. She didn’t go overboard with the comic book references like in Keeper, and even though I didn’t understand all of the references she used, it didn’t take from the story at all. The story as a whole was so well done; the characters were even more developed, and the ending was perfect. My favourite part about Keeper was the relationship between Lainey and Maggie, and it only got better in Seeker. I enjoy the subtle romance between Lainey and Ty, but it’s nice and refreshing to have a novel that doesn’t focus entirely on the love interest. The fact that Lainey and Maggie rely on one another and progress together is heart warming. It’s the type of friendship I would have liked to experience growing up. The story was an emotional roller coaster and I cried more than I thought I would. But the part that had me ugly crying was something so simple, but so beautiful:

“Batman and Robin.
Sam and Frodo.
Lainey and Maggie.”

I’m not crying, you are! After waiting so long I feel really satisfied with how everything was addressed and no stone was left unturned, meaning all ends were tied up in a pretty little bow. Overall, it was a good read! I can’t wait to see how Kim’s writing career progresses even further.
