I really enjoyed The Other Black Girl. I didn't realize what it would be, it was available from my library and I picked it up as part of a reading challenge.
It was definitely a departure from my usual books. I usually don't pick up tense thrillers. And this one was a twisty, turny, thriller.
I loved Nella and her bestie, and the story that unfolds kept me wondering what would come around the next curve. I feel like any person could enjoy this book if they enjoy a good main character and a plot that slowly comes in to focus until it sharpens to a full picture at the end.
That was one of the only things I didn't like about the book, though it did pay out. I kept seeing how little was left and wondering what the heck could even happen.

Graphic: Racism
Moderate: Toxic friendship
There's some descriptions of scratching at the beginning of the book that might trigger folks who are affected by dermatillomania.
