Worldbuilding: Incredible and well-researched. Nelle has a better grasp on geography than I ever will, and the magic system is innovative. The Compound in Monterey feels like it could be a very real place.

This is a book crammed to the brim with action, but with plenty of human moments between the pages and perspectives. Found family is a running theme throughout.

Definitely recommended for fans of The Last of Us.
