The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

1.0

Considering the amount of attention this gets—the videos, the posts, the fan arts, the love—especially around Jude and Cardan...

That's it? THIS IS THEM?! 😮‍💨 Nope. I'm sorry, no.

While The Cruel Prince kicked off on an interesting note, the only other time I was "excited" and entertained was when other people were getting murdered... and that was probably a totally of 3 pages, I don't even know 🫠

I completely get that this is a YA book but comparing it to Cassandra Clare—the author of dedication—and her entire Shadowhunter Series, this was just blegh... idk if bleghconveys my feelings rn but TCP was just very disappointing.

In one sentence: the entire book felt extremely surface level 😶

imo characters throughout TCP were described in certain ways that never got any development nor "their moment to shine" and there were a number of scenes that offered no weight to the greater plot (i.e. the mall / most classes excluding the star gazing one) annnnd tbh I finished this six days ago and I'm still mad about the entire thing... 🙃

BUT book club has assured me that the series gets better so fingers crossed 🤞🏻 o sí no 🔪
