I'm conflicted.   It was a good book.  I cried.
I just don't know if I totally agree with this book's theme of forgiveness, especially when preached by the mother character.  She says to find the good that came out of someone harming you but sometimes there just isn't any, as was the case of what happened to Cassie.  Obviously I wanted Cassie to heal, but I don't know if forgiving a person for wronging you is necessary for that.  Then a person commits criminal acts and it's just glossed over.  I did enjoy Cassie's competence.  The love story felt like puppy love, which I guess is cute in it's own right.  I found the start and end of the book engaging but the parts in the middle, not as much.  I wanted to see more interactions between Cassie and the firefighters, I wish that was the heart of the story.
