A roman-tasy, which is very easy to read. In my opinion, it's a less substantial perspective, compared to it's sister-book 'a game of fate', which is told from the MMC's perspective.

I found the FMC lacking a fully developed character. She seems one-dimensional, entitled, and judgemental. And while other characters do call this out, the FMC doesn't undergo any real character development or growth - instead any development she does have is credited to what the MMC was able to give her. I found it very difficult to relate to her, care about her progression and it felt like reading this book was a betrayal of feminism.

To be fair to the author, this book was intended to be a romant-asy, which I had absolutely misinterpreted upon borrowing. If that is the type of book you are after, then you may very well enjoy this. The book includes enemies-to-lovers trope, forbidden love, possession, jealousy, etc. and is more focused on the romance than anything else.

The writing was simple, and the story was not incredibly creative, although I appreciate it is a re-telling of the Hades-Persephone mythology.
