I Contain Multitudes: The Microbes Within Us and a Grander View of Life by Ed Yong

5.0

“I don’t contain multitudes, I am multitudes”

The human micro biome is a hot topic over the last few years, and rightfully so. The formerly under appreciated world within, on, and around us may hold the secrets to eradicating diseases and solving many of societies greatest health problems. Ed Yong does an excellent job in delivering the science in a way that is digestible (no pun intended) but not sensationalist either, adding caveats where necessary for the more cutting edge or speculative findings. You probably don’t need to be taking a probiotic, but you might be taking a customized bacterial supplements in the next few decades for all sorts of health ailments if this field continues to progress. Until then, you and your billions of co-inhabitants will just have to wait.
