Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews

5.0

The first time I read this book, I was a young teenager. This time, I listened to the Audiobook version on Spotify.. There were so many little details that I did not realize I had missed when I was younger. The fact that their mother married her half uncle, don't remember that at all. Or the portion where Chris forces himself on Cathy, I have no recollection of that happening.

I love this book and always will love this book from cover to cover. The tragedy, to the hopefulness of be welcomed into a grandparents home they never knew they had, to the unwelcomed feeling, to them running away. Reading this in the point of view of the siblings and how you can read and see how little the mother eventually cares, really hits you in the feelings. A mother should never act how this one did, even if it was for a large fortune.

I will be listening to the rest of this series on Audio, there are more books now than when I first read them as a kid so I can't wait to see how this goes.
