I did not expect that I would like the Hobbit half of this book *so much more* then the big people half, but fuck me if I wasn't rooting for every one of their little victories and teary eyed at every one of their tragedies.

I don't know how to express how fun it's been, reading through the five book "main" set of Tolkien Middle Earth Books. Those final chapters, where we get to see both the fading of the world, and it's last glorious embers, that really hits like a gut punch now. The movies didn't quite manage to convey that part so well.
