Through the beginning and middle of the book I just kept drawing similarities to the story of divergent (which I own I did not read). People divided into different factions, our main character joining the violent warrior group despite being raised for a peaceful one. Even the initiation felt reminiscent. 

Despite the similarities I definitely enjoyed this story a lot more. The characters have dimension and while I could see most plot points from a mile away the small details of how we got there were engaging.
