Final Offer by Lauren Asher

3.5

3.5 stars for cal and cami and cal and cami alone. And Iris too kinda.

I have many many thoughts on final offer and l'm sad cuz why i thought he was gonna be number 2 for me? He's number 3 but that's cuz the rest of her men fall flat ... these are some of the things I thought.
One- why is everyone acting like cal isn't a known alcoholic and constantly belittling him. They don't even give him a chance to speak and tell his side of the story? Throughout the book people only ever reference his addiction as an inconvenience to them. Alana constantly belittles him despite knowing how much he’s gone through to even get where he was.
Two- the “conflict” between Lana and cal was resolved way too quickly cuz no actual meaningful conversation has been had yet she's asking him to stay ...
Three- I think while Lauren may have had good intentions addictions are not cured by the power of friendship. There should've been more research and it seemed like she alienated him from everyone except for iris at times.
Four- unrelated but I think LA hates zahra cuz why is zahra always made to seem like a burden to them? She’s also made to seem like a child which… okay.
Five- The book could’ve used 200 pages but it was already so freakishly long. We needed to see more of him getting help and all of that.
Six- wtf was Victor. It felt like he was thrown in just to make cal look better when it came to cami and it was undercooked.

That town also had me pissed cuz are y’all adults or are you five year olds?

This is the only time I think I’ll ever say this in regards to a man but cal deserved better than Alana. He deserved someone who wouldn’t weaponise his weaknesses and remind him of those weaknesses constantly.

Again I like cal and kinda alana but... the bag was indeed fumbled
