Shine On, Luz Véliz! by Rebecca Balcárcel

4.0

This appears to be a story about learning to find your path, after your path is taken from you.

Luz has been injured playing soccer, a sport she has loved and played since she could walk. So to go from being a soccer girl to a non-soccer girl. It was how she connected with her father, as he coached the team.

So, that is the basic premise. But the story does not stop there. In finding what Luz wants to do instead, she discovers robotics, and finds that if she wants to take the class with her grade level, she has to hustle, and learn everything she can about it, with the help of a former engineer neighbor.

Then, a surprise comes in. And since it would be a spoiler to throw that in, I'm just going to say it came out of left field, and added more to this story, and how Luz reacted to it.

Good story. I thought it was just going to be one theme, but it turned out to be more.

Thanks to Edelweiss for making this book available for an honest review.
