Securing Civil Rights: Freedmen, the Fourteenth Amendment, and the Right to Bear Arms by Stephen P. Halbrook

3.0

Halbrook provides a very detailed account of the intentions and understandings surrounding the issue of the right of citizens to bear arms in the Reconstruction period of American history. However, the book lacks updated discussion of District of Columbia v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago, both of which have had a huge impact on the incorporation of Second Amendment rights and demand explanation that Halbrook's 2010 updated edition of Securing Civil Rights does not provide.
