I saw this book all over bookstagram and the title caught my attention. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a “celebrity memoir,” but the book was amazing. You can really tell that Jennette McCurdy is a writer and story teller and she clearly thought through the best way to convey each of her stories. As a reader/listener I felt like I went on a journey with her as she came to terms with her mother’s abuse. She handles really tricky topics with a refreshing openness and honesty, and even though it was an emotionally difficult read, it was still somehow a joy to read because it was so well done. I highly recommend the book to anyone who enjoys memoirs, especially the audiobook as it’s read by the author herself.
