Patience by Lark Taylor
5.0
#1 Patience: ★★★★★ | 5 stars
I have been waiting for Ferry's story from the first moment we met him, and it was absolutely worth the wait. If you loved the demon brothers and their stories, you're going to love this too.
Ferry and Leo are such fantastic characters. And, I'm not going to lie - their story had tears running down my face more than once. Especially the prologue *cue ugly crying*. It is such a beautiful example of loving someone unconditionally in whatever form or iteration they exist. Ferry has been pining for his soulmate for literally 4000 years, and when he finally gets another chance with him he's not going to let anything stop him. And, Leo. He was freaking adorable, and I love how well-rounded his life felt even while knowing something was missing (i.e. the big, hunky demon-shaped hole in his life). His relationship with both his best friend Danny and his brother Matty really give you insight into the kind of person he is. Ferry and Leo were fire together, and they absolutely deserved their HEA.
Three Things:
1. Ferry having a gaggle of supernatural wingmen (get it? because they have wings *snort*) will never not be funny to me.
2. I loved how organic the inclusion of all the characters from the Reckless Damned felt. They didn't feel shoehorned in, but rather necessary to the story. The found family (and real family vibes) in this series are just *chef's kiss*
3. Matty is just a delight, and I love the hints we get of his story. He and the Sebastian are going to be something else, and you know Leo is going to be in full big brother protection mode. And, Danny? There are now officially shifters in this world? Sign. Me. Up.
I would read another two dozen books in this world, if Lark Taylor continues to write them. And, while I am so excited about Sebastian & Matty's book that's coming next, I just know Blaise and Toby's book is going to be my favorite. The intrigue? The redemption? The dynamic? Can't freaking wait. If you haven't started reading the books in this word yet, do yourself a favor and change that expeditiously.
content warnings: violence, death, loss of a loved one, grief, sex (on page), captivity, torture, references to past assault of a side character, fire/fire injury
