The Mother Road by Meghan Quinn

4.0

The Mother Road is about a father and his two children who want to complete a road trip planned by their late mother in order to honor her memory. On the road trip, mishap after mishap befalls the family and hilarity ensues.

It's actually the hilarity that kept me from giving this book 5 stars. I usually love Meghan Quinn's humor, but it was unusually juvenile in this book. It seemed like she asked a couple of drunk frat guys to write the jokes and then developed the plot around them. It was too much at times.

The saving grace, however, were the heartfelt moments interspersed with the bizarrely juvenile humor. I choked up a few times and loved the letters the deceased mother left for her daughter and the MMC. They made this momma's heart break and mend all at the same time.
