Taken by Rebecca Zanetti

2.0

Faye Smith and Hunter Holt are former foster children who live together with Miss Avengeline, who has called them back to help find Hunter's half brother, Jackson. One of Jackson's teacher's has convinced him that the only way for them to be happy is on the run, robbing convenience stores to live. Faye and Hunter are soon on their trail along with their other foster brother, Raider, but first they must sort out their priorities.

I don't understand the necessity of writing a story like Taken that is too short to really include much plot or character development. Much of the narrative takes place off page and is then summarized after the fact, leaving the reader feeling cheated. The setup is interesting, revolving around these foster kids who suffered together, but the most of the story seems like a waste of time. Overall, Taken doesn't have enough substance to make it a worthwhile read.
