The Stand-In was a fun read and reminded me of all those swap movies, like The Princess Protection Program from Disney.
Gracie works a normal corporate job and her boss is the ultimate asshole. I mean breaking HR left and right, but Gracie needs this job. Her mother has Alzheimer's and is in a care home.
Keeping to herself, Gracie is randomly photographed. Thinking nothing of it, she continues on with her day when she is approached by a black SUV. To her surprise it is two of China's best actors, Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, with a proposition.
Desperate for the money, Gracie decides to go along with this plan. She must fake being Wei Fangli. Sam Yao is technically not Fangli's bodyguard, but he is still her protector and thus Sam and Gracie will now be in a forced to be around one another.
The banter Sam and Gracie have is so cute. This is definitely a fun romcom and played out like movie in my head. Romance aside, the characters have a lot to to go through and work through; such as mental health, family life, financial life.
I really enjoyed this one and would recommend to those who loved The Princess Protection Program and who don't like their books spicy (fade to black.)
