Frank is the Irish Ghost of the Mob. Elena is the wife of the Italian Mafia leader. But their childhood formed a friendship between these two. Fate and circumstances brought them both back together years later. A lot has changed. But their feelings have stayed the same.

I knew we were going to need Frank’s story. I knew I was going to love it. I was not expecting the level of intrigue. It was done so well. When I grow up I want to be as strong as Ellie. Because she is one fierce, strong, mother. She only breaks when she thinks no one can see her, but Frank is always watching her. Always knowing exactly what she needs and being that presence she can rely on.

It’s so subtle but even as Elena is coming back into her old self and becoming Ellie, the chapter headings change. Brittanee’s attention to those small details does not go unnoticed.

If Ellie was having a flashback of something Frank said, both narrators spoke it. Hearing that portrayed was an experience. Joe and Maxine delivered this story in such a masterful way.

*This is the same Frank McCabe from Whiskey Lies and Boston Billionaire series, you don’t have to read them prior, but you should because they are great too. Frank and Elena’s story is darker than the others so check TW if that’s your thing.
