The Song of the Thrush by Christine Pope
4.0
Marenna and Corin are getting their turn in the limelight.
I can truly say this fairytale was a new one to me! Corin had been thrown over by a princess in favour of another royal. Now 2 years later he turns up at Marenna's father's estate and she slights him.
Whilst it wasn't intentional, Marenna doesn't strike me as malicious just a bit...well clueless. She just expects stuff to be done and doesn't think too much about how it happens. But when she ends up married to the very man she slighted, even if she doesn't know it, she may just learn a lesson in humility.
Corin treats Marenna well whilst still making her work hard. She make friends with those less fortunate than her and become happy with her lot. Well written, engaging characters and a fitting finale!
