Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates

5.0

In this powerful book, Ta-Nehisi Coates attempts to explain to his 15-year-old son both his own personal experiences of racism and the history of it in the United States. His essays are both full of facts and explanations--and his hopes for how things will be different for his son. There is an almost poetic quality to the memoir portions, and because it was framed as a letter, there's an intimacy throughout.
