Someone in the Attic by Andrea Mara

3.0

Having just come off reading an amazing literary/historical fiction chunker (There Are Rivers In the Sky by Elif Shafak), I needed something quick and easy. Someone in the Attic was perfect!

Imagine mindlessly scrolling through TikTok when a video comes up that looks like its been recorded IN YOUR HOUSE! From the wall decor to the whiteboard with your to-do list on the wall...it IS your house. Suddenly, you hear bumps in the night coming from the attic, your son claims someone is watching him through the vents, and the neighbors even begin acting suspicious.

The beginning of this one had me on the edge of the seat. I was literally freaked out. Unfortunately, as the story moved along, the suspense and creep levels fizzled out. The ending wasn't super satisfying and I was hoping for something a whole lot creepier.
